Steps to Quality 

A Child’s Heart is currently in the process of getting their Steps to Quality, Idaho’s child care Quality Rating System and Improvement System (QRIS), measures the quality of care in a center and home-based child care settings. The Steps to Quality provides care programs with a set of tools to create a high quality setting where all children thrive. Participation in STQ is one of the best choices your child care program can make to demonstrate their commitment to quality

Healthy Initiatives

A Child’s Heart is in the process of obtaining our Health Initiatives designation through the City of Boise. The Healthy Initiatives  addresses the growing epidemic of childhood obesity and strengthens the child care standards in the City of Boise. 

The Healthy Initiatives are comprised of the following parts: 

  • Physical Activity: Allotted time every day for children to get outside and be active, including play both inside and outside. 
  • Screen Time: Limits on the time spent each day where children use and interact with screens (TV, mobile devices, computers, video games). 
  • Nutrition: Meals and snacks served by child care providers. 
  • Infant Feeding: A private, designated location, other than a restroom for breastfeeding. 

IdahoSTARS 

A Child’s Heart is currently in the process of getting their IdahoSTARS designation. IdahoSTARS is the leading expert and resource for quality child care here in Idaho. The IdahoStars project sets child care providers up for success by offering professional development and resources, such as current standards and resources for a child to receive the best possible care. 

A Child’s Heart is currently participating in the STQ program and moving through Steps 1-6.  A successful program maintains the quality indicators of the previous steps while striving for verification at a higher step.  Step 3 programs are STAR-rated, meaning they have reached a base level of high quality.  These programs, and those at Steps 4-6 are promoted as a high-quality early care and education programs in Idaho.  
Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP)
Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP) is accepted at A Child’s Heart. ICCP helps low-income families, parents who work or attend school, or parents participating in short term activities to prevent their children from being placed in foster care to pay for child care. 
ABCJesusLove Me
Here at A Child’s Heart, our curriculum is based on ABCJesusLovesMe, which empowers our Christian-based child care and learning facility. ABCJesusLovesMe is an all encompassing, research based preschool curriculum for ages 1-5 that ties its teachings in with academics, development, and the Bible.

Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP) is accepted at A Child’s Heart. ICCP helps low-income families, parents who work or attend school, or parents participating in short term activities to prevent their children from being placed in foster care to pay for child care.

Here at A Child’s Heart, our curriculum is based on ABCJesusLovesMe, which empowers our Christian-based child care and learning facility. ABCJesusLovesMe is an all encompassing, research based preschool curriculum for ages 1-5 that ties its teachings in with academics, development, and the Bible.
