Happy Owls Class
4 to 5-year-olds make up our Happy Owls Class. Happy Owls learn how to write letters, numbers, names, and their phone numbers and addresses. They also learn about the seasons, the senses, and how to tie their shoes, and many other life skills. Essential fundamental learning continues with basic math, such as shapes, colors, spatial concepts, sorting, opposites, sequencing, and patterns.
For your child’s ABCJesusLovesMe curriculum, your 4-year-old will focus on character education and the fruits of the Spirit. The learning is supported through various Bible characters and stories, memory verses, and songs.
Your 4 to 5-year-old will learn gross and fine motor skill activities, along with visual perception activities as part of the curriculum.
Their curriculum will focus on making handwriting easier. Beginning with the simple line and progressing to more difficult strokes, the worksheets will increase in difficulty, allowing the child to ease into the harder forming letters and numbers.
At A Child’s Heart, we have a formal curriculum for 4 and 5-year olds to help your child get ready for kindergarten. Our goal is to enable your child to calmly sit during teacher lead instruction for at least 30 minutes, and also have a firm grasp on the alphabet and letter recognition.
Your child will also learn to count to 20, recognize numbers and understand quantities, learn how to hold a pencil correctly, and be able to write their own name. We will work with your child on life skills, such as how to follow directions and rules, how to listen to parents and teachers, and how to cooperate and work well with others. Ultimately, our formal curriculum will give your child the foundation they need to succeed as they step into their school age years.
